Timeline of 2nd Niger Bridge construction in Nigeria
President Goodluck Jonathan formally kick-started the construction work of the second Niger Bridge, in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Monday, March 10.
The 1,590-metre long bridge, which would form part of the 11-kilometre Onitsha by-pass project, is expected to be completed in four years.
It will be executed under a Public Private Partnership arrangement in which the Federal Government will contribute 25 per cent of the N117bn construction cost and the private sector 75 per cent.
The private investors are expected to recoup their funds within 25 years through tolling.
Below is a timeline of the several steps to begin construction work on the second Niger Bridge.
