According to the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president will not officially occupy the position of Petroleum Minister.

Adesina said that the president will instead supervise the sector and that he is fully capable of doing so.

The presidential aide made the comments via Twitter on Monday, October 12, 2015.

"President  Buhari is not going to be designated as Minister but will supervise the
Ministry...he has all it takes to supervise the ministry,"
Adesina tweeted.

"President Buhari would respect the constitution. And the constitution says Ministers must be appointed from each state," he added.

The president had earlier said that he would take charge of Nigeria's petroleum sector in a bid to rid it of corruption.

Buhari presented his ministerial list to the Senate on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
