Oronto Douglas dies at 49

The Special Adviser to the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan, Oronto Douglas, who is renowned for advising him on Research, Documentation and Strategy, has dead. He was aged 49.

He was reported to have died at the State House clinic at 4.58am on Thursday, April 9, 2015.

A renowned voice for the Niger Delta region, Douglas was reported to have been treating an undisclosed terminal disease, which has now claimed his life. 

Douglas who was born in 1966 co-founded the Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria.
