President Goodluck Jonathan and former president, Olusegun Obasanjo reunited on Saturday at Jonathan's foster daughter's wedding, Inebharapu.
Obasanjo who in recent times had castigated Jonathan for his inept handling of the affairs of the country was received at the gathering with great applause.
Obasanjo who was ushered into the hall received standing ovation as he took his seat at the VIP section, and was later joined at the section by the President of the Senate, David Mark and his wife.
It was a most surprising appearance at the church wedding where Inebharapu was joined in holy matrimony to Simeon at a well-attended service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
Obasanjo seems to have in recent times been at the forefront of those castigating Jonathan for his leadership style.
Apart from a stinging 18-page letter which he wrote to Jonathan in December 2013, he had with his recent book, "My Watch" berated Jonathan for his leadership style. Obasanjo's body language in recent times suggested a big gulf between him and Jonathan.
He had also accused Jonathan's administration of squandering the nation's reserves, and handling the country's affairs in a reckless manner.
Jonathan had on his own part in frustration of Obasanjo's persistent castigation, tacitly accused him of being a motor park tout.
It was perhaps the height of it all, such that Obasanjo's presence elicited great attention at the wedding. Obasanjo must through his presence be put verve to his recent comment that he bore no grudges against Jonathan.
Obasanjo arrived the venue in company with Dr. Andy Uba and some other aides before the commencement of the service.
Jonathan entered the hall about 20 minutes after in the company of his wife, Patience, and the bride.
He and his wife took turns to exchange pleasantries with Obasanjo, Mark and other dignitaries before taking their seats.
In his vote of thanks at the service Jonathan specially recognised Obasanjo's presence, saying, "Let me appreciate our father, President Olusegun Obasanjo, for being here with us. Thank you for coming."
He urged the couple to embrace the virtue of endurance, saying they should learn to resolve their disagreements in the bedroom, and not to bring their problems to him because he has more than enough issues to address.
