NIS advises A-Ibom govt on devt policies
The Akwa Ibom State branch of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, NIS, has advised the state government to begin the enforcement of policies in the building industry to give the state capital aesthetic value.
Chairman of NIS, Mr Clement Akpan, gave the advice when members of the organisation visited Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, UCCDA, Mr. Enobong Uwah, recently.
Some of the issues he raised include stepping up of orderly physical developments, NIS to assist on field inspectorate, need for state geo-information bank and policy implementation.
Others are digital geo-information for governance, objectionable illegal surveys, certificate of deposit of survey plans and state thematic maps amongst others.
UCCDA boss, Mr. Uwah while thanking them for the visit frowned at the activities of some town planners, saying some of them compromise standards against the ethics of the body.
