National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency arrests 244 suspected drug traffickers in Bayelsa, Nigeria
The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency on Tuesday said it had arrested 244 suspected drug traffickers and seized 223.2 kg of hard drugs in Bayelsa in 2013.
The Commander of the Agency in the state, Mr Frank Hanacho, who disclosed this to newsmen in Yenagoa, said the suspects include 191 males and 53 females.
He said that the agency in 2012, only seized 132.73 kg hard drugs and arrested 219 suspects.
The commander also announced the arrest of a 23-year-old suspected drug dealer, Loveday Eferebo, on Sunday in Yenagoa.
“Loveday Eferebo, as at the time of his arrest, was in possession of 39 grammes of cocaine and a drug distribution paraphernalia, including a drug weighing scale, amongst others,” he said.
Hanacho said that the agency would take appropriate measures against anyone found involved in the illicit trade.
He urged those involved to withdraw from such illegal and nefarious trade, assuring that the agency would not hesitate to deal with anyone found in the illegal business.
