FUNAAB re-opens after unrest, students to pay N5,000 for damages
The Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, FUNAAB, OgunState, has fixed October 3, 2016 as date for the resumption of academic activities, weeks after the school closed indefinitely following students’ unrest during which properties worth millions of naira were allegedly destroyed by the stundents.
Emi Alawode, Head, Directorate of Public Relations of the University, made this known in a statement on Saturday indicating that the Senate ordered the resumption.
The Senate, according to Alawode, also directed that all students must pay N5,000 as fine for the damage done during the student protest.
“Senate, at the end of its emergency meeting held recently, has approved Monday, October 3, 2016, as the resumption date for normal academic activities. The students, who have been on mid-semester break, are now to resume after the consideration of the report submitted by the committee that was set up to look into the students’ unrest,” the statement said.
