Freedom and Responsibility Course for ECOWAS Journalists

Applications for the 2011 “Freedom and Responsibility in the Media” course of the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of GIZ, Germany, scheduled to hold in Accra, Ghana, August 22 to Sept. 2, are now been accepted.

 

The course is for practising journalists, with permanent employment from any media house in the ECOWAS member countries. Women are particularly encouraged to apply, and freelancers cannot be considered.

 

The two-week training course, which would involve participatory teaching techniques, would include topics on – how to incorporate historical experience into reporting on current affairs; accuracy and fairness, privacy, protection of sources, conflict of interest; conflict reporting, covering elections, interviews, covering accidents, calamities and catastrophes; reporting truth and reconciliation in West Africa, among many other issues.

 

Applications to be forwarded to the IIJ through the German Embassy in the resident country of the applicant:
