Explosion rocks Jos Army Barracks

Explosion rocked near the Nigerian Army's 3rd Armoured Division barracks at Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday at about 10.45am leaving residents scampering for safety suspecting it must be another suicide attack by terrorists.

Sani Usman, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army later cleared the air, explaining that the explosion occurred as troops authorised to destroy some unserviceable ammunition moved it for destruction in a bush.

He further noted that two soldiers died in the accident while one sustained injuries.

Normaly has since returned to the city after the explosion.
