Ebola outbreak in Guinea under control, says WHO

The World Health Organisation (WHO), on Thursday said Ebola infections in Guinea have stabilised and under control.
 
"The situation in Guinea, although still of grave concern, appears to have stabilised," the Geneva-based organisation said.
 
WHO noted that the number of infections per week had remained roughly the same over the past five weeks.
 
According to a new WHO report, an upward trend continues in Sierra Leone and Liberia, which showed that the combined number of Ebola cases in these three West African countries has now climbed to 6,242.
 
Meanwhile, the death toll reached 2,909 as of Sunday, according to the WHO update on the virus.
