145,345 pupils to sit for 2016 BEC exams

One Hundred and forty five thousand, three hundred and forty five (145,345) students, comprising of 77,938 and 67,407 from public and private schools respectively will sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination for onward transition to senior secondary school.

 

The examination is billed to hold between Monday, June 13 and Friday, June 24, 2016.

 

According to the Lagos State Examinations Board, the examination will be written between 9.00a.m. and 2.00pm, with each paper taking two hours, and students will be tested in both core subjects and elective subjects.

 

The core subjects include English Studies, Mathematics, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, Social Studies, Cultural and Creative Arts, CRS/IRK. PHE, French, Computer Science/ICT and one of Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba Languages, while the elective subjects are Agric Science, Home Economics, Arabic Studies and Business Studies.

 

Candidates are to choose one or three from the elective subjects to make up minimum of 13 or maximum of 15 subjects to be seated for in the Examination.

 

The Board also enjoined parents and guardians to prepare their wards for the examination by making available all materials needed for the examination and ensure that they take their meal before the examination commences.
