2011 China-United States Journalist Exchange Programme Launched

Print, broadcast and online journalists with at least five years experience from China and the United States, can now apply for the "2011 China-United States Journalists Exchange" progamme. 

 

The exchange programme sponsors approximately seven Chinese Journalists and approximately seven U.S. journalists to travel to the others' country, with the intent of deepening public understanding of the two countries.

 

 

Jointly launched by the East-West Center, the All-China Journalists Association and the Better Hong Kong Foundation, it would provide the selected Chinese journalists the opportunity of visiting California, New York, and Washington D.C., in the United States, and conversely, the U.S. journalists the opportunity to visit Beijing, Ningbo, and Hong Kong.

 

Scheduled to take place from Sept. 17 through to 29, it would involve study tours, meetings with government and business leaders, academics, journalists, non-governmental organizations, and an avenue for exchange of thoughts on the theme: "China's 12th Five-Year Plan -  What Does it Mean to Americans".

 

Application deadline for American journalists: July 8, 2011.

 

Application materials:

  • Current CV (should not be more than 2 pages)
  • A cover letter detailing issues of interest to applicant and applicants motivational goals
  • Three references with names and contact inforamtion
  • Completed application form (should be downloaded first on a computer, filled out and then resaved under name of applicant)
